Event Description

REAL (Racial Equity and Advocacy Leadership) Team meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for Dec 18 at 6pm at Central Office in 2nd Floor - Superintendent’s Conference Room.

(Normally the meetings are the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.) I’ve been attending the meetings - which are open to the public - since June and I believe that this group may truly be a vehicle for long-term change within the district. Current priorities are professional education, personnel recruitment, and student discipline.

There are currently approx 25-ish people who attend regularly, but we really need more community members to come and be involved and show that racial inequity is a serious issue at RCSD. Parents of black or brown students have a particularly useful perspective, and we do not have as much parent representation as I think we should. Anyone concerned about racial inequity at RCSD should consider attending at least one or two meetings to see if they are interested in helping with the effort.
