<p>I am cleaning out what I thought my kids might be interested in but are not. Does anyone know if any school (or anyone) would be interested in a "stamp collection"? I started collecting when I was a kid (yes, Sweetie, they had postage back then). These are not official clean stamps, but postmarked - some are quite old, some aren't, but they're still interesting for those who are so inclined. There are even some foreign stamps - they might be good in an educational setting, I don't know.…</p>

<p>As a way to respond to the murders, and increasing number of murders in SW Rochester, I have been organizing prayer vigils. The idea is to have one vigil a couple of evenings after each murder at the location of the murder (if known) or the location the body was found. We have had two vigils so far. I am in the process of planning the next for the murder of Johnny Summers on 5/4/14. We need religious leaders to come forward and help lead these prayer vigils. The vigils are meant to send…</p>

The vigils are meant to send a message that the community will respond to these murders peacefully and prayerfully. These vigils are organized by the community and may or may not involve the victims' family. Often the faith or religious institution of the victim or their family is not known, so we are not reaching out to their religious leader to lead the vigil. This is a chance for each religious organization in SW Rochester to partake in this mission. If you or your religious institution can help lead a vigil, please contact me.</p> Housing need for family of 3tag:location19.org,2013-11-12:2047650:Topic:776142013-11-12T22:09:24.323ZGail Motthttps://location19.org/profile/GailMott

She has a three-year-old brother who also is a citizen. Her parents are not citizens although they have lived and worked here for over 20 years. This summer both parents were arrested by ICE and their cases are currently being adjudicated. <strong>During this period of time they are here legally until disposition of the case is settled.</strong><br/><br/>Due to the emergency nature of the situation, the Sisters of St. Joseph have agreed to provide emergency housing for a short period of time, but other and hopefully more permanent options must be found. <p>The remaining question is: When?</p>
<p>The decision, to close the <a href="http://www.rcsdk12.org/44" title="" target="_blank">Lincoln Park School</a> at the board’s regularly scheduled meeting on July 29, leaves the date for closure of the facility open-ended; and some concern was expressed by Commissioner Mary Adams.</p>
<p>Adams says with the closure of School 16 for modernization, there’s a lack of facilities in the southwest area of the city in the foreseeable future.</p>
<p>“School 16 is not available. There are no other facilities where people can send their child in the 19th Ward right now. The problem is the lack of physical capacity for early age <a style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; border: 0px none transparent; padding: 0px; background-color: transparent; background-image: none; display: inline;" class="itxtnewhook itxthook" href="http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20130729/NEWS01/307290074/Board-Education-votes-close-School-44-leaves-date-open-ended#" id="itxthook1" rel="nofollow"><span id="itxthook1p" class="itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap"><span id="itxthook1w" class="itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap itxtnewhookspan" style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; text-decoration: underline ! important; border-width: 0px 0px 1px; border-style: none none solid; border-color: transparent transparent #00cc00; padding: 0px 0px 1px ! important; color: #009900; background-color: transparent;">students</span><img class="itxtrst itxtrstimg itxthookicon" id="itxthook1icon" src="http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png" style="padding-top: 0px!important; padding-right: 0px!important; padding-bottom: 0px!important; padding-left: 4px!important; vertical-align: baseline!important; margin: 0px!important;"/></span></a> in that neighborhood,” Adams said.</p>
<p>Anita Murphy, the deputy superintendent for Administration and Operations said: “We don’t know yet and need some more time to figure out what facility those students would go into, and at what time. Depending on Phase II legislation, (School) 16 would be on the docket for the beginning of Phase II legislation. So, we’re recommending closing the facility and giving ourselves some time to understand what’s going to happen in Phase II with the legislation before a firm decision is made.”</p>
<p>“I remain concerned regarding the actual access of facilities in that neighborhood and how that could align with or fail to align with our emphasis on transportation <a style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; border: 0px none transparent; padding: 0px; background-color: transparent; background-image: none; display: inline;" class="itxtnewhook itxthook" href="http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20130729/NEWS01/307290074/Board-Education-votes-close-School-44-leaves-date-open-ended#" id="itxthook2" rel="nofollow"><span id="itxthook2p" class="itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap"><span id="itxthook2w" class="itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap itxtnewhookspan" style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; text-decoration: underline ! important; border-width: 0px 0px 1px; border-style: none none solid; border-color: transparent transparent #00cc00; padding: 0px 0px 1px ! important; color: #009900; background-color: transparent;">efficiencies</span><img class="itxtrst itxtrstimg itxthookicon" id="itxthook2icon" src="http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png" style="padding-top: 0px!important; padding-right: 0px!important; padding-bottom: 0px!important; padding-left: 4px!important; vertical-align: baseline!important; margin: 0px!important;"/></span></a> and building neighborhood schools as a priority,” Adams said.</p>
<p>Board of Education President Malik Evans said he <a style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; border: 0px none transparent; padding: 0px; background-color: transparent; background-image: none; display: inline;" class="itxtnewhook itxthook" href="http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20130729/NEWS01/307290074/Board-Education-votes-close-School-44-leaves-date-open-ended#" id="itxthook3" rel="nofollow"><span id="itxthook3p" class="itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap"><span id="itxthook3w" class="itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap itxtnewhookspan" style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; text-decoration: underline ! important; border-width: 0px 0px 1px; border-style: none none solid; border-color: transparent transparent #00cc00; padding: 0px 0px 1px ! important; color: #009900; background-color: transparent;">shares</span><img class="itxtrst itxtrstimg itxthookicon" id="itxthook3icon" src="http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png" style="padding-top: 0px!important; padding-right: 0px!important; padding-bottom: 0px!important; padding-left: 4px!important; vertical-align: baseline!important; margin: 0px!important;"/></span></a> Adams’ concerns, but also supports the resolution, saying the district is responsible to find a facility to place School 44 to prevent a squeeze if School 16 isn’t available as the district’s Facilities Modernization Plan moves forward.</p>
<p>“We should not be closing it (School 44) until we know what’s going on with Phase II legislation,” Evans said.</p>
<p>Adams said the open-ended closure in the resolution means the school could close anywhere from the end of the next 2013-14 <a style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; border: 0px none transparent; padding: 0px; background-color: transparent; background-image: none; display: inline;" class="itxtnewhook itxthook" href="http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20130729/NEWS01/307290074/Board-Education-votes-close-School-44-leaves-date-open-ended#" id="itxthook4" rel="nofollow"><span id="itxthook4p" class="itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap"><span id="itxthook4w" class="itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap itxtnewhookspan" style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; text-decoration: underline ! important; border-width: 0px 0px 1px; border-style: none none solid; border-color: transparent transparent #00cc00; padding: 0px 0px 1px ! important; color: #009900; background-color: transparent;">school year</span><img class="itxtrst itxtrstimg itxthookicon" id="itxthook4icon" src="http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png" style="padding-top: 0px!important; padding-right: 0px!important; padding-bottom: 0px!important; padding-left: 4px!important; vertical-align: baseline!important; margin: 0px!important;"/></span></a> to 2020-21 school year.
