Approved

Spelling Bee

Co-chairs Moiet James and Brianna Dean shared their progress.

Spelling words will be sent to the school coordinators for comments and should be distributed before Thanksgiving. We discussed the budget, and agreed to ask for $3,000 from the Community Association. Several items relating to marketing including momentos, and a consistent logo were discussed. Possible sources for door prizes were proposed and assigned to committee members. Busing of students to the spelling bee itself were discussed. Joe Baldino agreed to find out what may be possible from a logistics standpoint.

Convention table

The convention is Friday November 16 at 6 pm at school 16. At our table we will have information on the spelling bee, information on the busing issue including petitions to sign, and volunteer application forms. We are hoping for attendance by school teachers and administrators as well.

Next steps on local busing

Distribute petitions and contact school officials.

School reports

School 29 is making progress on their inclusive agenda.

The next committee meeting will be Tuesday December 4th at 7 pm in the 19th Ward Community Association office.
