I'm a librarian at RIT. I moved to Rochester 4 years ago from the Midwest and have been living in the 19th Ward since I moved here. My interests include cats, cooking, homebrewing, and languages (I am fluent in French and Welsh).

    Kira, thank you so much for your positive information. I'll be seeing my vet this afternoon with Albert and will bring this up with her/him. It took over a year to gain Pewter's trust. He stayed here all Tuesday night and is friends with Albert. (Princess just hisses at him--she's got diabetes and arthritis, so I don't know if she'd be more at risk.) Needless to say, I'm crazy about Pewter. Again, Kira, many thanks!

    Pewter has been here going on a month. He's a real dear. I know the risks, especially biting. Your having told me about having an FIV positive cat with your others for nine years was very encouraging. I had Albert tested and he is FIV negative--this after he and Pewter associating with one another before Pewter became a permanent part of the family. Thanks again, Kira.
