Tell us about yourself:
My grandmother used to live in an apartment on Thurston Rd above the shoe repair shop. I remember visiting her as a child and going to Merrill's Five and Dime. There was a Silver's drug store, a bakery and the movie theater. I always enjoyed the gardens right next to my grandmother's building that are still there today!

Before we moved to Inglewood Dr, we lived on Genesee Pk Blvd. Somehow the 19th ward has always felt like home to me. I want to see this area restored, how can we make it happen?

Susan,

Welcome to Location19!  Your son Ian is my manager at Lowe's in Inside Lawn and Garden.  Great to have you join the group.  I live on Enterprise St. and have been here for 28 years now.  Hope you check in to the site often to see what is going on around the neighborhood!

Hi Suzan,

I'm delighted to have aother new member from Inglewood Drive.  I think that brings us up to 8 on Inglewood.

Now that you are a member you can post to the Discussion Forum, Events calendar and Blog section of Location19 and join any of the various groups to participate in the discussions there.  If you don't have separate emails, doing a joint membership is necessary but please sign your posts so it is clear who is posting.

Being a group member not only lets you post to the group but it will also permit you to receive email notifications from that group about events and other info that may not be posted on Location19 itself.

Please post your picture.  Step by step instructions can be found here How to Post Your Picture - It's easy!  In a case like Westfield Street where we are trying to get bock groups formed so neighbors get to know one another better, having a picture posted is very helpful.

Please be sure to subscribe to the Daily Email Digest so you receive an update of new activity on the site.  Without it you will miss the latest activity if you are away from the site for a few days.

I look forward to your participation. If you have any questions don't hesitate to call Marian or me at 328-4271.

Hi Susan,

Thank you for joining and welcome to Location 19. I'm sure you'll find lots of interesting topics here and if you want to let us all know about something, just post it. Also, please post a photo (anything's got to be better than what's there now!) - even a photo of Jake will do nicely :)

BTW, I love the wreath on your door and how it changes with the seasons.

Enjoy the site!

Susan,

Welcome to Location 19.  I would encourage you to join the 19th Ward Community Association.   We are actively working to address issues in our neighborhood and to represent the neighborhood at City Hall.  The more members we have, the more strength we have to address those issues, and the more in-tune we are with what is on the minds of our residents.

Please check out our website at http://www.19wca.org/
You can call Ann at our office at 328-6571.  Registration-only membership is free to all 19th Ward residents.  I would encourage you to consider becoming a paying member, with the Individual level starting at $15.

If you have any questions, comments or input, please feel free to contact me at 527-9619.

Thanks,
DeWain Feller
