Food carts/trucks as neighborhood/neighborly events

The story in today's D&C re: downtown food trucks & carts inspired me to do a bit of research on the very popular food cart venues in Madison, WI, where I live now. In the process I came across a story that made me think immediately of the 19th Ward and how these could be used as a way of bringing neighbors together.

Food carts and trucks are a downtown tradition here in Madison, but they are also spread out everywhere around the city. Among many wonderful ideas, there…

NEW STOP SIGN ON ARNETT AT WELLINGTON.

A message from Susan Morehouse of the Arnett Block Group:

Please take note of the new stop sign on Arnett at Wellington. This has been a dangerous corner and we have been working with the city engineer to remedy that. When they redo Arnett next year they will add crosswalks each direction. Right now, people are not noticing it and running the stop sign. Please be careful! We have arranged to have a traffic officer there during busy times but that means you could also get a ticket if…

City to ban new Mini- Marts!

Believe me, many of the mini marts should not be in business.  In my opinion, by the city banning new mini-marts, the message the city is sending is " We can't do anything about the laws you break so we are going to give the existing mini-marts a monopoly."  If the mini-marts are not following the rules- SHUT them down!

Stop trying to put bandaids on wounds that need surgery.  There are laws on the books, enforce them!  Set the example that if you are going to open business in…

Genesee Valley Little League Donation Opportunity

If you haven't heard, the Genesee Valley Little League is growing.  Last year the league more than doubled in size.  We hope to continue that momentum in 2015.

With enrollment rising so do our financial needs.  We try to keep registration fees low so as many kids as possible can participate.  This doesn't leave us with a lot of extra money for equipment.

This year we are soliciting individual donations from 19th Ward residents.  We have created a Gofundme campaign to raise…

Location19 Donations

If you value Location19, consider a donation to help with operating costs.  John and Marian Boutet shoulder this effort, but it is a community effort.  Use the donate button on top left, in whatever amount, so they do not have to pay the whole cost for this website.  Join the Location19 Fans group, if you want!

It costs $300 a year, and we do not want to have them pay the cost.  It is for us!

Thanks.
