Housing Committee
Day Meeting Notes for Posting
April 18, 2012
Final
The Meeting convened at 11:10am.
Present: John B, Lee K, Toni O, Donna S, Berda G
315 Kenwood went for $37,000 .
565 Chili needs a lot of attention. It has 15 apartments. Called 911 Friday but still a problem this morning. Tony will call NSC.
Tony and Donna will check on totes Thursday morning.
Tony again reviewed the steps in addressing tote violations: we bring the list of tote problem to NSC; the list goes to Phil who checks locations to verify violations; the NSC sends ticket if they verified the tote violation.
537 Post Avenue totes still out.
Next area to be addressed is in district 8 and 9 as far west as Woodbine.
Donna reported information from the We Care meeting: only 2 garage sales per year are allowed. Also looking at to select one area for a year for Project 365. Next We care meeting is May 10th.
There was discussion about the log used to write up problems on a street. It needs work. Extra wide sheet is a problem to handle in the car.
The letter given to Mayor Richards at Palm Sunday breakfast was answered in R. Carlos Carballada letter which says that
John mentioned the merchants checklist that is going to be put up on Location19 for convenience stores so residents know which ones carry items such as whole wheat bread, skinned and 2% milk, eggs and fresh produce to encourage new customers to stores that carry a wider selection. There will also be a “Go Clean” rating for stores that agree to not sell drug paraphernalia, call 911 whenever they see drug activity, not sell counterfeit merchandise or loosies.
Meeting adjourned at 12:10pm

Thanks to the housing committee for your hard work!
The letter from Mr. Carballada (above) seems to illustrate issues the City has with accurate record keeping and tracking of code violations and other property complaints that are made! I will be interested in seeing updates on how it is that the City came to believe that the 19WCA was going to raise 500,000 to rehab a single house!
Wonder if 1. the 'contact' name is public or2. privileged information! Or 3. has it been 'conveniently removed from the record???? Lets go for door #3!!
