19th Ward Community Association
Housing Committee
Day Meeting Notes for Posting
March 7, 2012
(Final)
The Meeting convened at 11:00am.
Present: John B, Peter E, Burda G, Lee K, Toni O, June R, Donna S, Henrene B
John needs to delete “Drips” from House drawings.
Toni has gotten spreadsheets from David Hawkes. They only had entered data for two weeks. NSC wanted to limit the Housing Committee to 2 streets but we persevered and got agreement to do whole area. One street was fully free of totes and there are significant improvements on 2 others. 447 Thurston has very severe tote problem on Rayburn where they put the totes. The totes encroach on the sidewalk on Rayburn. Rayburn had a block-club. We need to find out who the Block Club contact is to get them involved in fixing the tote problem. Need work at Arnett and Genesee street also.
Resident on Thorndale has talked with Peter and they now have a good working relationship. Others that also were previously contacted have renovations being looked into with contractors.
Look into the legislation to prevent owners from taking the money and running when there is a fire. Peter will talk to the Delegates Council recommending they support sending a letter to Carlos Carballada to press Albany for legislation.
Mark of the E2 block club has offered to do his street, Enterprise. We need to get him sheets.
Lee has old pictures that could be scanned to do a before and after comparison. Lee and Rose have taken new pictures and “Good News” sets will be posted.
Peter will make plea at Delegates Council tomorrow to do their streets and follow-up.
Lee is meeting with Bryan Friday to do Google Doc spreadsheet. He will stop by on the way home to look over what has been set up so far what more needs to be set up.
Planned daycare: nothing can be done by NSC until they open. We decided we need to let people planning to open daycare know that level 3 sex offender lives next door. They should not start day care there.
Peter will work with Toni Monday the 19th for totes because June is not available.
Follow-up on volunteers : Ginny, McClurg still need to be contacted to get them involved. John needs to get their contact info to Lee. Mitzi and Burda are in the loop.
Next meeting is next Wednesday at 11.
Meeting adjourned at 12:15 pm.
