General Meeting Notes for Posting
May 24, 2012

The Meeting convened at 7:05pm.

Present: John B, Peter E, DeWain F, Lee K, Toni O, June R, Helen W

Issues with Tote and NSC were discussed.

The focus has been on totes and on housing code violations for deteriorating property. Toni and June have been doing Totes and have done a ton of work Documenting violations and reporting results to the NSC.

  • The system is working.
  • We are up to April 16 with the city.
  • When it comes to nuisance point it works primarily for rental properties.

Peter:

  • What can we expect to be done if a gutter is hanging.
  • Are the code violations enforceable if the city had more inspectors on the job.
  • Cars on lawn.
  • Use the city phone calling to alert residents about house maintenance issues.
  • We need more inspectors.
  • Hire private contractors for inspectors.
  • How do properties get behind on taxes so many years.

David Hawkes wants to have meeting at NSC office between Housing Committee representatices and Carlos Carballada, Commissioner of Department of Neighborhood & Business Development, and Gary Kirkmier, Director of Inspection and Compliance.

Lee would like to set meeting with Robert Boyd, Executive Director of the of South Wedge Planning Committee.

96 Chili - look for grants to save and convert the front porch to a gazebo or a stage for community use.
