Volunteer recruitment/training process
Dan will update at the September meeting.
School 16 update
Nothing to report. Principal Laniak has not heard anything concerning setting up a committee.
School 44 receivership
School personnel are working on their improvement plan, one aspect of which is community involvement. A joint letter from the Schools Committee and the Southwest Education Committee offering support has been drafted and will be distributed to the committees.
Spelling bee
In the absence of a chair, there are decisions to be made soon. At the next meeting I will invite Fraternity folks and we will select a date for the Spelling Bee and will order the word list to get to the schools.
Old/New Business
There are three possibilities for LFLs which are being pursued. In the meantime at various venues we have given away over 1000 books.
Next Meeting Wednesday, September 9th at 7 pm in the 19th Ward Association Office.
