Spelling Bee update
Activities are on schedule. School 19 will be holding their internal competition after winter break. School 29 may need some help with their internal competition. John L was to invite Superintendent Vargas and the board to the event. The fraternity is handling the press release, need to add the friends of the library. The bus will pick up students at school 19.
Schools 16 and 44 status/activities
Letters were written to Vargas and the school board members in support of school 44, and John, John and Beverly met with Malik Evans and Willa Powell, who were supportive in keeping the school open until 16 has re-opened on Post Ave. Sarah suggested that the school 44 building be used, but the students in K-1 would be school 16 students. This would get over the issue of 44 being a failing school.
On school 16 renovation issue, we will have a presence at the school 16 project fair March 19. We will have a display (with the 19th wca) to ask people what they would like to see when school 16 returns to Post Ave. This is our best opportunity to get parents involved in providing input.
