Another person was shot and killed in the 19th ward last night- this occurred on Post Avenue (south of Brooks). I had not heard this on the news but as I drove by the area today, part of the street was blocked off with crime tape and police cruisers. This stood out as a very stark contrast to the yellow school buses and small children waiting to board them.
Per the D&C report, the man who was shot was alive long enough to call 911 and give a  short description of the attacker.
We need some help to stop this insane violence!

Margy, the information I put together goes into more depth about starting a Block Club. The forms are meeting announcement, meeting minutes template, telephone tree template, after forming the Elba Street Block Club I retraced my steps and wrote them down eliminating my bumps in the road along the way.
Dana Miller sent out a flier for distribution inviting people with leads to come forward.
Kristin Runyon, Elanor Coleman Jodi Maurer and others from the block clubs in the area have printed fliers and are circulating them in the area.
Here is a note I just received from officer Runyon:

Jodi, president of the Virginia Block Club will handle Virginia, Brooks to Congress area. That block of Woodbine would probably not be a waste of time either if anyone is up to it. The K9 track indicated a suspect may have run north east from the scene (think Post to Virginia to Woodbine close to Brooks.) Maybe we could get folks who will be trick-or-treating that block to hand these to the parents along the way. I know the investigation is not going well here. It’s amazing to me that we could not have any more witnesses given the time frame and everything.

Anyway, thanks for all your help with this. Please don’t hesitate to ask for anything on this. And I am fine with people talking to me anonymously if need be, I can even meet people out of uniform for coffee if it helps.

Thanks again,

Kris
