So we have a new Mayor - congratulations to Tom Richards!

Given the large number of Johnson signs that i have seen on a daily basis, I imagine that many here in the SW are unhappy with this result. For every 20 Johnson signs I saw in the 19th ward there was (at the most) one sign for Richards. I wonder if this will have an impact on how our particular neighborhood moves forward in terms of having a good relationship with City Hall....

I voted last night at 6:30 and was surprised that I was only the 352nd voter! Given the size of our neighborhood and the overall 26% voter turnout I would have thought that there would be more people voting in our district.

the best news of all is - no more robo-calls or other 'please vote for me' calls!

We were really turned off by the robo calls (several during dinner hours each night) and the negative comments during this campaign, hence we did not vote. I wonder if others felt the same way or if they're just hibernating.

It seems to me that politics has become so ugly and negative that people just don't want to or don't have the time to participate - like everything else, how do we get people to do something that could affect their daily lives and future?

I was influenced by the fact that many local African-American leaders, in addition to most if not all of City Council, put there weight behind Tom Richards.
