Has anyone heard of this? Tom D'Agostino from the city told me a little about it. Sounds like they do free home rehab/repairs during a week in the summer? Just wondering if anyone in the area has had any experience of them.

Flower City Work Camp typically uses the Easter vacation (or the break that happens around that time), and high school kids (with supervision from adults) do maintenance and some repairs for low-income or elderly homeowners. I've worked with them fairly regularly over the past 15 or more years....sometimes they do painting, or remove debris, do yard work, or even help build a ramp for wheelchair access. I do not know who coordinates the program now, but it is a faith-based initiative with some kind of link to the Browncroft Community Church in Penfield.
Catholic Family Center used to have grants to assist the elderly with needed repairs enabling them to remain in their homes. My Mom just had a special walk-in shower installed in her home with a grant. Also her Long Term Care insurance will enable her get assisted living and remain in her home. With funding cuts, you really have to dig to see who still has dollars left...........
