Sadly I just received this note from Dave Hunt:

To friends, loyal customers, and past employees of Hunt's Hardware: 

My brother and current owner of Hunt's Hardware, Bill Hunt, has informed me (as of last Friday) that Hunt's will be closing "for good" on Friday, July 3rd. Any remaining merchandise, other than keys and shop services, will be sold throughout the week at fifty percent off the marked prices. Other than some possible media stories about our closing, it will all happen quietly, and without ceremony. 

There are many reasons for our going out of business after 120 years of service, some which were under our control, and still more that weren't. On a personal note, leaving hundreds of friends after 51 years, and what is left of our loyal customer base is difficult. But I have to admit that since the retirement of Mr. Hunt three years ago, and his passing in November, as well as my brother's upcoming departure from the state, I have truly lost my desire to manage a full service hardware store, and will now work for other businesses in the home improvement/restoration field, while also returning to teaching. For now, to those who need to see me for any reason, or to pick up stored paint formulas ( dating back approx. twenty years), I can be reached daily from 10-2 at Lowe's of Henrietta. 

To Jacki Farrell and John Boutet, I would appreciate if you could make a quick announcement of our closing to your memberships. I'm sorry about the suddenness of my email, but the decision to close this Friday was recent and somewhat unexpected. I'm sure that both Bill and I would like to follow up with a personal word of gratitude to the 19th ward community through your "Update" and "Location 19."
