The AQE/Metro Justice Education Committee will meet this Friday May 13th, 2016 at 5:30pm to 7:00pm, at 803 West Avenue, Suite 370, Rochester, NY 14611.

The new code of conduct will lay the foundation for transforming school climate throughout the Rochester City School District and be an important tool in ending the pushout of students for minor offenses. To break the school-to-prison pipeline we need policies that promote fairness, repair harm, and keep kids in the classroom.

It has been over 18 months of hard work by parents and community members on the AQE/Metro Justice Education Committee to get this far. We also must acknowledge the hard work of our many allies in this fight, especially Teen Empowerment and members of the Community Task Force on School Climate. Passage is not guaranteed, and the final language of the new code of conduct could change for better or worse. The next few months will be crucial.
