Event Type: discussion with the mayor
Organized By: Lovely Warren, Mayor
Latest Activity: Sep 23, 2016
Mayor Lovely Warren will be at Brue Coffee from 8am to 10am Saturday September 24th to hear what our issues are in the area. I'm sure there will be many issues to discuss. In the 19th Ward, the start of planning for renovation of School 16 has been the center of a lot of discussion. See https://youtu.be/yqJ85k2v8x8 . Fear of delays, caused by differences on the Joint Construction Board, will perhaps be discussed, but a new topic has come up that we should consider.
During the school renovation the function of the current gym and cafeteria may be switched for a variety of reasons. This would make the new location of the gym ideal for its inclusion in a City Rec Center on the north side of the building. The feasibility of having the City do this should be discussed. It would help transform 16 into a community school. More details of this concept can be found in Should a Rec Center be Included in School 16?
The Mayors invitation is below:
Dear Neighbors,
Please join me for "Coffee with the Mayor," on Saturday, September 24 from 8 to 10 a.m. at Brue Coffee, 960 Genesee St., in Brooks Landing.
This community event is your chance to meet me for coffee and casual conversation. Let me know what your issues of concern are and support small business by purchasing coffee or other items.
Joining me will be our new Deputy Police Chief of Community Relations, Wayne Harris and Genesee Section Captain Tony McMullen from the Rochester Police Department.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to speak with our Kiva Rochester project coordinator. The Kiva Rochester program provides zero-percent interest crowd-funded loans to help small business owners and entrepreneurs launch or grow their businesses.
Please share this invitation with your friends and neighbors.
I can't wait to meet you for coffee!
Sincerely,
Lovely A. Warren, Mayor
