YOU are invited to the Building Community with Community Gardening seminar.
Date: Thursday November 18, 2010 8:00 am registration, welcome 8:40 am, adjourn 4:00 pm
Location: CCE, MC 249 Highland Avenue, Rochester
Who should attend: neighborhood leaders (appointed, elected, agency, faith based, or as individuals) interested
in building community through gardening
Program topics:
• Gardening Lessons from the Big Apple, John Ameroso, Community Garden Educator, CCE New York City,
(retired)
• City of Rochester’s roles in community gardening, Connections with City Hall, Chuck Thomas, Director of
Planning
• Engaging and managing the spirit of citizen participation in gardening, John Ameroso
• Making gardening a safe experience
• The politics of community gardens. Who is in charge? Who is REALLY in charge?, John Ameroso
• Sharing gardening success stories: private, school & public spaces
• The interrelationship of the Rochester area food shed and community gardening, Tom Ferraro, Foodlink
• The next steps, opportunities for the near term, discussion lead by John Ameroso & Walt Nelson CCE,MC
