Crop Walk is a family friendly community walk sponsored by Church World Service and organized by local congregations to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world. A collaboration of several of Rochester’s 19th Ward churches is hosting the 2011 Crop Walk on Sunday, May 1st. Each walker has a goal of 8 pledges of support. A portion of the funds raised will remain in the local community to help feed those in need here.
This year’s walk will be a stroll through history down the Riverway Trail (with historical sites marked on the walk map and along the trail) along the Genesee River and returning up Plymouth Avenue onto Bartlett. Two walks are available, a 3-mile loop and a shorter 1-mile loop for families with small children or those who prefer a shorter option. Both walks are on paved walkways and wheelchair accessible.
Here is a map of the walks: CROP Walk map v.3pdf (DR).pdf
and a short history of the area: CROP WALK History.cwk (WP).pdf
Pledge Packets available at the 19th Ward Community Association, SWAN, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and St. Monica’s Catholic Church
