Event Description

The Boys Academy at School 9 in the Rochester City School District is a successful program. Young men in grades 3-8 are taught important life skills leading to better academic outcomes. Despite this success, the program is being dismantled. The 7th and 8th graders are being moved to the Leadership Academy for Young Men at Charlotte High School. The 3-6 graders are staying behind. At the same time, parents were not informed or included in this important decision.

The parents and students want the Boys Academy to stay at School 9. This isn't just a program, it is a community. School 9 is their home, and they should be allowed to stay.

Join us on Thursday, August 27th, at 6:15pm to deliver a petition to the Board of Education in support of the Boys Academy remaining at School 9. Parents, students, and community members are united in opposing the move.

We will gather outside 131 W. Broad Street, Rochester, NY, then march in together to deliver the petition. Meter parking is free after 6pm. Please wear a tie to show your support--students wear ties as part of the program.
