ROCHESTER HUMAN RIGHTS CELEBRATION:
“FOOD JUSTICE: THE RIGHT TO GOOD, CLEAN, LOCAL FOOD”
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10TH
5PM to 9PM
The evening will proceed as follows:
At 5PM, a guided “WALK THROUGH THE FOOD SYSTEM” of photos and other materials from the many groups involved in our community will take you fromHealthy Soil and Healthy Climate to Growing Our Food, to Getting Our Food, to Building Community by eliminating the barriers so that “All people will have sufficient, culturally acceptable, quality food with as much from the locality as possible and not from emergency sources”.
At 5:30PM a LOCAL HARVEST POTLUCK followed by a brief Ted Talk, “GUERRILLA GARDENERS” and celebration of the Declaration of Human Rights.
At 7PM a Panel Discussion will be moderated by Elizabeth Henderson, NE Organic Farming Assn. with participants: Pamela Reese Smith, Director of NY Service Quadrant, City of Rochester; Tonya Noel, Director of Causing Effects & B.L.A.C.K.; Hoody Miller, Seedfolk City Farm, and Mitch Gruber, Director of Programming &Innovation, Foodlink.
