As part of the Kenwood Blocks in Bloom program this spring the organizers of that program reached out to School 29 to take on establishing a butterfly gardenin the NE portion of the empty corner lot at the Kenwood and Kirkland across from the School. The City participated by providing mulch, gravel, bricks, a bench and tilling of the garden area. They also installed a post for us to install a Little Free Library on. Students from the school started work on the garden and a gravel path in June. Over the summer volunteers completed the work on the path, installed the Little Free Library, planted more flowers and kept the flowers watered.
Tuesday October 4th we are ready for the dedication of this garden.
The agenda is:
Intro Christine from School 29.
Intro Heather and Lou from Lowe's: Perennial donation
Intro Kathy Lewis from Cornell Master Gardeners: Photo to Lou and Heather.
Intro David Hawkes and John McMahon from NSC: City contributions.
Jake Waters, office of Senator Joseph Robach.
