Rochester Charter schools, high stakes testing, reduced public funding, assaults on teacher unions, these are among the familiar strategies adopted by corporations, foundations and NGOs which are crippling public education in the United States in the name of “reforming” it. And teachers, students, parents and other citizens are fighting back.

What can we do? David Hursh, University of Rochester Warner School, will discuss his new book, The End of Public Schools: The Corporate Reform Agenda to Privatize Education.  Discussion moderated by Paul Hypolite, NYSUT, RLC Education Committee Panelists: Paul Hetland, Rochester Teachers Association/NYSUT, Rochester Coalition for Public Education; Eamonn Scanlon, MetroJustice, Alliance for Quality Education; Ericka Simmons, Rochester City School District Parents Advisory Council

THIS PROGRAM IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Light refreshments will be available.
