June minutes Approved

School 16 status

Still waiting for opportunities for providing feedback on the plan for renovating school 16. Contact has been made with Mike Schmidt. No word on replacement principal.

School 10 status

John L to meet with the principal Wednesday. Will extend an invitation to school 10 parents and staff when meeting with superintendent is scheduled.

School 29 status

The butterfly garden is growing, and a neighbor has been watering. John B expects the Little Free Library to be installed this weekend.

School 44 status

Staff is preparing for the school year.

Volunteer Invitation

Some changes were made to the invitation for volunteers. Dan was to make final edits and then send to Jackie for inclusion in Update 19.

New Superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams

We are planning to set up a meeting for the new superintendent as part of her listening tour. Timing and location TBD. In the meantime we will contact the schools to provide estimates on the number of parents and staff likely to attend and then we will seek out the appropriate venue. Suggestions included the Presbyterian Home, Wilson high school, school 44 gym, and Arnett library.

There were suggestions to invite her to speak at convention and/or the Palm Sunday breakfast. Dan was to talk to Chris.

Old/New Business

Good D&C interview with interim superintendents.

Next Meeting

Wednesday, September 28th at 7 pm in the 19th Ward Community Association office.
