Boulder update

Boulder Coffee is in the process of moving across Genesee Street into the Brooks Landing Business Center. As soon as we have a date for their re-opening, I will post it here and on Facebook.

They have spent the last several days moving tables, booths and equipment - now it all needs to be set in place and equipment needs to be installed.

Again - as soon as a date is available, it will be posted!

We need something like Mise Enplace - an amazing, locally owned place in the South Wedge. Market, dinner spot, etc. You can check out their website here: Mise En Place Their food/meals are fabulous and they offer a great local grocery store in an urban location- small, but lots of choice with fresh food, etc.

It sure would be nice to have a neighborhood mart with fresh vegs and fruit. A laundrymat would be a good addition also, but a Chico's on Genesee St.. Really??

Couldn't have said it better myself Marian. I also seem to be seething every time I pass that corner which is why 'community meetings/charrets mean very little to me at best.

What the community wanted during the charretts that were held many moons ago should be on 2 x 3 sheets of paper all rolled up and stuffed in a corner somewhere....................There were many suggestions from community residents what we would like to see along that strip. BTW a copy/print shop, a bookstore were just a couple of suggestions..............

Based on the big new sign announcing Boulder Coffee..and according to Boulder's website, it should be opening this coming week!

There have been serious delays for many reasons (too many to go into here). My understanding is that all issues have now been resolved, and they are ready to open within the next few days!

And, we learned a lot about integrating new commercial tenants into a building that has other occupants...more complicated than we anticipated.

And, we are working on a small grocery store on Genesee Street - we should know soon about the financing for that project!

Too bad. I will never go there. Although it is good this space will be occupied. I regard this as one guy's way to make money, which is fine, but the whole history of the Coffee House is one which I will not spend any more of my money on --- community members invested in this, now where is their return? I guess in a renovated building, which is positive, but not what was expected.

I have that same bad taste in my mouth, Mark, and am unsure how I'll feel about using the new Boulder. If someone holds a meeting there, I might attend it, though, if I'm really interested in the topic.

I've heard that we now have an alternative where Creators Hands and the French Quarter used to be on Arnett. Sensuous Satiables has moved there and expanded their fragrance business by adding a coffee shop with some eats. I'll have to try it out. I know the owner is a great guy.

Lyjah Wilton could have joined this group and kept community members informed as to the progress and status of Boulder. he also could have met with community members last year when he was invited to meet with a small group to talk about how to better grow his business but he turned down (refused) this invitation..... His behavior leaves me believng that he does not care at all about this community except for what he can gain from it. The boulder wounds really run deep here! The story would make for a very interesting investigational news article/expose.

I am supporting Boulder because he is making the commitment to stay at Brooks landing instead of taking all the negative feedback and leaving. If I were him, I would have left long ago. The other building was renovated beautifully but was too big to support the business. I have been in the neighborhood well over 30 years and watched the decline of Genesee & Brooks. I am interested in supporting the many ways it can grow.
