No official word from RPD but it seems there was concern about a 'suspicious device' at/near the Presbyterian Home.... and that, maybe, it was a 'prank' but the police were clearly taking it seriously until they could clear the situation.

We got the call here on Marlborough and the end of our street was blocked off for several hours.

It is hard to get these kinds of calls but thankfully everything is OK!!

 Details from our CPO re: this incident:

"Officers responded to 256 Thurston Road for a report a suspicious package. (R), who was at the Presbyterian home visiting his mother, noticed the an 8" long aluminum foil tube shaped object, laying on the sidewalk and alertly called 911.  The foil had a wire or small cable sticking out of one end and a faint audible sound coming from inside the foil. Responding officers established safe perimeters and hyper reach was utilized to advise neighbors to remain inside their homes.  Notifies were made and Bomb Squad technicians responded to make the package safe. Upon further investigation, The package was discovered to be a commercial hand held panic alarm wrapped up in foil and not an explosive device capable of detonation.  Neighborhood and camera checks were negative"

All is well and while it was scary to be 'locked down' I am happy that RPD took appropriate precautions to keep us safe in an unknown situation.
