I just found out from my neighbor what my husband and I THOUGHT was just some banging from the refinery behind us at 11 pm-ish on Tuesday night was actually shots fired.  7-8 of them, to be exact.  She spoke to someone at the police dept and confirmed this.  There is no other news to report at this time, but stray bullets did hit a house or two (466 Westfield was apparently hit).  Police wouldn't say much, but just a warning to Westfield Street residents.  Ridiculous we can't even feel safe in our own damn neighborhood.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to this Wednesday's PCIC meeting since I'm working 2nd shift for the next two weeks.

If the shooting occurred because the criminals involved were trying to avoid the new cameras on Thurston I think we should inquire about getting a camera (or 2) on Westfield St. If they know they are being watched here, we would all be much safer.

We are finally getting speed humps, sidewalks and curbs. I wouldn't mind if they put a camera in front of my house.

CPO Kristin Runyon made a hundred copies of a flier that Jes and I passed out to residents on Westfield Street.  All the homes from Brooks Ave up to 344 Westfield were canvased.  About 1/3 of people were in and most were quite interested in the idea of getting neighbors to get to know each other better.  Fliers were also given to people I found at home on the northern end of Westfield earlier in the afternoon and a few to residents on Ravenwood between Genesee Park Blvd and Westfield.  The flier focused on the desire to get block clubs in the area started and on getting residents to the April 13 PCIC meeting at which information on starting block clubs would be available and the crime issues would be covered. The flier is attached.
