I am writing on behalf of the Greater Rochester Coalition for Immigration Justice to ask for assistance in helping an immigrant family find housing resources and possible financial assistance.  The situation involves the family of one of the GRCIJ members. The name of this family must be kept private for their safety. The daughter of the family was born in the US and is a student at a local college.  She has a three-year-old brother who also is a citizen. Her parents are not citizens although they have lived and worked here for over 20 years.  This summer both parents were arrested by ICE and  their cases are currently being adjudicated.  During this period of time they are here legally until disposition of the case is settled.

Due to the emergency nature of the situation, the Sisters of St. Joseph have agreed to provide emergency housing for a short period of time, but other and hopefully more permanent options must be found.  Coalition members are trying to locate possible housing and financial resources to assist this family. If you know of
a rental (no more than $700/month), house-sitting for the winter, or any other possible housing arrangements please let me know.

With appreciation,

Gail Mott
