This is Mr. Lucky
We rescued him last September from a very bad situation where he was being fought.
It’s hard to believe, but this is what he looked like then:
Every single rib and vertebra was visible. His head was the widest part of his whole body. He had bite marks all over his head and shoulders. The fur was worn off the tops of his ears and his “wrists” from being kept in some sort of cage or box that was too small for him.
In spite of all his suffering at the hands of the people who did this to him, his spirit was not broken. He’s happy, smart, and loves his new life. We taught him “sit” and “down” – using both verbal and hand signals, in a few days.
Now the unfortunate part – our resident male dog has come to resent him so we have to find him a new home. Although he does get along fine with our female dog, there really is no way to tell ahead of time whether or not he’ll be compatible with any other dog. Also, he hasn’t been tried with cats, so he would probably be best as the only dog, and probably the only pet, in his new home.
Lucky is most likely between one and two years old and very much still a puppy. I have obtained a DNA analysis for him that shows his ancestry contains Great Dane, Bulldog, and American Staffordshire Terrier. He has been neutered and has had all his inoculations. His new person will ideally have experience with “bully” breeds and will take him to obedience classes. We can recommend a very good trainer.
This guy is going to be a wonderful companion for the right person.
