19th Ward Community Association
Delegates’ Council
April 14th, 2011
"Joan Roby-Davison described Ron Christenson’s plan for a parking lot behind Barton St. to service Brooks Landing businesses. The project will be in two phases: the first with 72 spaces, and the second with 113 spaces. The sale of the property will be voted on this month at City Council.
Brooks Landing developer Ron Christenson discussed the new tenants in the Brooks Landing business center building; leases have been signed for Boulder, Subway, and California Rolling. These businesses should be built out by September.
Ron also discussed plans for a new apartment/restaurant building on north of and adjacent to the existing hotel. The plan also includes a boat house for the UR Crew Team. The first floor of the building will contain a 5000 sq ft restaurant. The restaurant will have outdoor seating and will be a joint venture between two local restaurateurs. There will be 5 floors of student housing that will be leased to the University. A separate building on the south east corner of Brooks and Genesee Street would house a Vision Credit Union in the project. Sharon questioned how the occupancy by a non-profit organization would affect the tax base. The response was that the development would pay property taxes since the property would still be owned by a for profit company. There were several questions by delegates as to whether or not there was adequate room at the site for parking at the site. This project is also tied to completion of a park road. "
