Hello,

I recently joined the Location 19 website to make you aware of a college bar that is opening in my neighborhood.  I am a longtime resident on S Plymouth Ave and I just became aware of a gentleman that is trying to open up a college bar at 1155 S Plymouth Ave.  This is the same gentleman that has been buying up properties for students and evicting my friends and neighbors.  I do not think the neighborhood needs a college bar.  We will be inundated with drunk college kids on Friday and Saturday nights.  The city and neighborhood must stand up to prevent this bar.  It will only bring trouble.  The bar name is Plymouth Roc.  That is the same name of the gang that terrorized our streets years ago.  We do not need this.  We do not want this.

Sincerely,
Lucinda

***Another note - I am now and have been known to be a very vocal entity on this side of Genesee St. and I was NOT aware of this petition nor was I asked to sign.  And I am wondering why?? There are also a few other KEY signatures missing.............interesting?

And some of the signatures 'appear' to have been penned by the same hand!  Now that was real SMART!  At least have the smarts to change the slant of the letters and the formation of the numbers geesh............Anthony, did you look at the signatures carefully?

Yes I don't have any evidence to prove that. If it is apparent as it appears to be the submission can speak for itself.

It certainly looks like one person signed four names, and they all have phone numbers outside Monroew county. Possibly a student signed his/her name plus the names of his/her roommates who weren't there.

ANTHONY know that all the signatures on thoes papers are from the people that wrote it he is surprised that some of the people are renting from his brother and we dont appericate him trying to accuse us of FORGEING ANY  SIGNATURE we had this discussion with him last week , He is upset that there was a cover letter  attached to the forms and he did not agree with what the letter said as I stated to him vis email  that A person has the right to voice his/her opion rather  it's right or wrong We had several people against us reopening the brother club we spent excessive money to  redo the whole inside Anthony start being truthful about this .

That does not make any sense. You said so yourself that you don't know who wrote the letter. I was surprised to see that they had signed it. When we first started developing the concept, they had expressed interest in the project and looked forward to a nice place to go that would be close by. I followed up and asked them if they were aware of the letter. They were not aware of the letter. They did not write the letter. They did not sign that petition with any knowledge that it pertained to our project. Many of them admitted to signing it simply because it was late in the evening and everyone else was signing it.

I did not accuse anyone of forging signatures. I said I don't have any evidence to prove that. If it appears as though that is the case. The submission can speak for itself. I was saying "Yes" to the question of "Did you look at the signatures carefully?"

It wasn't just them though. It was also Ray Daniels. I brought it to his attention after speaking with the kids from the U of R. He told me he also did not see a cover letter. This was his response to the zoning department:

"

Dear Ms. Lagonegro,

A petition was sent to you recently trying to block a variance for the property located at 1155 S. Plymouth

Ave.  I signed that petition, but at this time please remove my name and signature from it.  This petition was presented to me without the cover letter sent with it.  I do not agree with the statements made in  that letter and I feel my signature was obtained under false pretenses.  I have recently met Mr. D'Alessandro and I get the impression he sincerely wants to change the neighborhood for the better.  As a businessman in this neighborhood for well over thirty years, I can only applaud his efforts.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at the number above.

Sincerely,

Ray Daniels"

This is why I contacted you. I thought maybe you also had been misrepresented...

everone can say what they want to say but some of thoes petions was signed at other places other than the brothersclub or the ressiance cafe dont try to make like we forced any signatures on that petion and Ray Daniels seen what we all seen WE OPPESSED A BAR AND BEING LATE IN THE EVENING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT .,an no one was misresented by anything if a person want to change there mind well thats there choice tony or myself didnt wrie or type any letter or petition we just signed it

Eula:

A bunch of us residents went to your variance hearing to hear what you had to say.

Based upon what you said there we chose not oppose your petition. Your attitude toward Mr D'Alessandro makes me wonder if we made the right decision. I think you are being very short-sighted. A nice restaurant next to a nice deli can only improve a corner that has been an eyesore for years. As for college kids, they are moving in regardless. The college will continue to expand on this side of the river, landlords will rent to them, and businessmen will sell to them. You might as well make the best of it.

you were not asked because you were not known to be asked the petion was created because of the underhande thing Anthony has said and done before you pass judgement on the signatures you should contact a writting expert instead of sayin the signatures were penned

I believe the validity is based upon the review of the zoning board. I do not think that they "throw it out" they take into account the submission as well as any rebuttals and evidence to prove otherwise. I think it is unfortunate because it devalues legitimit concerns this person may have had. Instead of addressing them appropriatley they choose to go about it this way, potentially discrediting everyone involved.

Anthony yes we did sign the petion we hae a right to our opion and belief that these college kids will as they have already create a problem in this community we didnt write the cover letter and we told you that .We dont have to answer any questions to you as to who may or may not have written that letter we signed the petion that said we oppose what you are doing and we stand by that and for miss baker to say because a person live on ridgeway they dont have a right to sign is untrue if they sign then the come to this area rather it be to visit or have a drink at either of our bars this is not a low blow the low blow is to allow someone in this community to stay or run a business that uses the N word to residents in this neighborhood and that letter was signed and notirized by a person that lives in this area dont    use us to hide what you have done and said to this lady would you like me to post her letter

Where did the petition mention me or anything I am doing?
