Hello,

I recently joined the Location 19 website to make you aware of a college bar that is opening in my neighborhood.  I am a longtime resident on S Plymouth Ave and I just became aware of a gentleman that is trying to open up a college bar at 1155 S Plymouth Ave.  This is the same gentleman that has been buying up properties for students and evicting my friends and neighbors.  I do not think the neighborhood needs a college bar.  We will be inundated with drunk college kids on Friday and Saturday nights.  The city and neighborhood must stand up to prevent this bar.  It will only bring trouble.  The bar name is Plymouth Roc.  That is the same name of the gang that terrorized our streets years ago.  We do not need this.  We do not want this.

Sincerely,
Lucinda

WHEW, glad to see the name Plymouth ROC is no longer being considered!!!!

What's in a name.. how about Tony D's Pourhouse, or Plymouth Pourhouse or something benign like Happy Times or Cozy Corner Crib, making sure of course not to confuse with something sinister.

The new restaurant concept for 1155 S. Plymouth Ave is.... "Frank N Steins" a reasonably priced upscale restaurant / bar that serves gourmet hot dogs and beers. The menu will consist of a large selection of locally made hot dogs and sausages served on fresh baked bread from local rochester bakeries. We will have a small selection of local microbrews among other products. For more details here is a copy of our USE VARIANCE APPLICATION. In it you will find the new layout as well as proposed facade and site changes. We are applying for a use variance to be open until 2am Thursday Friday & Saturday. We are also requesting the city to permit the use of 4 on property parking spots.

*** We would greatly appreciate anyone who supports this project to please write a letter of support for us to include in our application to the city. The letter can be emailed to AJDD85@gmail.com.

Thanks so much!

I like your concept but it is certainly limited.  I do not care for hot dogs or sausages.  I like local microbrews.  Like local. I would never go there.

Well thats a bummer! We are aware there is a high demand for vegetarian and vegan options. While it won't be the focus of our product we do intend to offer some tasty choices.

What happened to all of the menu item suggestions that were generated in this thread? I am also curious about the limited hours (thursday - saturday). Is there some reason for proposing such limited hours of operation??

From the feedback we received, residents seemed very concerned about having a bar, pub or tavern in the neighborhood. Many of the menu choices that we were exploring as well as the feedback we were receiving was driving our concept toward a large bar / pub style menu that would require a substantial amount of kitchen appliances, re-modification to the building, and space. The truth is that we simply don't have the space inside that building to put a full Kitchen, 2 ADA Bathrooms, Tables, Chairs and Bar Stools AND still provide excellent customer service in a timely manner. Not all is lost while we may not have everything we want opening day, It is our intention to broaden the menu to Salads, Soups, Sandwiches and Wraps!

In regards to the specific suggestions generated on this page:

"Vegetarian/vegan/local would be popular with a number of local residents and with college students.   Lots of places these days are offering protein choices (chicken/beef/grilled tofu) for salads, wraps, etc., which is greatly appreciated by those who are eating mainly veggie diets."

"Please don't forget the vegetarians. There are a number of us in the neighborhood."

"Barbecue, seafood, salads, and sandwiches."

Of those suggestions it would not be feasible for us to serve Barbecue or Seafood, except maybe in the summer time if we can have a cookout in that alley way. which would be awesome.

The hours.

The hours of operation would be

10am - 11pm Sunday through Wednesday

10am - 2am Thursday through Saturday

The hours I was referring to are the hours we are requesting in the variance. We don't need to make a request to stay open until 11. Only after 11.

Given your timely and thoughtful response, I would try FrankNSteins.  Best of luck, neighbor!

Another Revision of the Variance Application check it out here: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B03j8OxDMUmaWFk4MkJ4RURRSnFQOGI5d2...

The Use Variance Application has been submitted! If you want improvement in this area, now is your chance to let your voice be heard! If the variance gets denied we have to wait 2 years to apply again. I understand some may be in opposition to Frank N Steins, please take into consideration the thought of that building remaining in its current condition for an additional 2 years. Please help us turn this ugly building into a fantastic neighborhood restaurant by writing a letter of support. If you have any concerns, questions, or just want to talk about the project PLEASE send me an e-mail. I am more than happy to address any and all issues. My e-mail address is AJDD85@gmail.com

I would also like to add that I do live on S. Plymouth in very close proximity to where we would like to put Frank N Steins and once the build out is complete I will likely be moving into the building. I will be there in the middle of it all 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Even if after we open you have any concerns or problems I will be there to address them. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FIND ME ;-)

Oh you might notice we removed the tables out front. We removed them because it is a seperate permit. Right now we are focusing on the use variance portion. We still want to put tables out front.
