As 2:30 approached the afternoon of May 1st, a nice crowd had gathered in front of St. Monica Church on Genesee Street for the 2011 CROP Walk.  John Curran had worked with the 19WCA History Committee to pick a route the would reveal local historical sites to the walk participants.  John had put together posters showing historical pictures of the area.  Keith Jackson, Doris Meadows and John Curran then produced a video describing the highlights of the tour rout.  That video can be viewed on the 19WCA history page at: http://www.19wca.org/home/history  or it can be viewed on YouTube .

After having had a preview of what was going to be on the walk and getting instructions the groups for the long walk and the short walk started off down Genesee to Brooks Landing.

At Brooks landing the group walked across the pedestrian bridge to look at a couple of sites on the other side then came back across to continue up Plymouth or on the Riverway Trail depending on the walk chosen.

It was a beautiful walk!  I especially enjoyed reading the information John Curran posted along the route and the wonderful spirit of all the walkers!  A special thank you for all who worked so hard to organize this!
