Pat Merle from Corn Hill Joined the SWCC last fall.  The extensive discussions about school 44 that the group has had at its meetings led Pat to volunteer her talents to that school.  On 2/6/15 she she visited the school with Beverly Usher and talked to the principal and some teachers.  On 2/9 she sent this list of ideas to Beverly.  It looks like Pat is of to a productive start:

   1. Neighborhood resources

      1. What are they: churches, businesses, services, other

      2. What skills, strengths can they provide?

      3. How recruit? Parents help?

   2. Pictures of all kids on walls

      1. Volunteers to work with each class to design a display

      2. Parents invited to participate, view

      3. Contest? Prizes?

      4. Year long process?

      5. Students involved in whole process from inception on

   3. Health center at school

      1. Jordan Health Center as a possibility? (opening 10 local centers)

      2. Referral service?

      3. Volunteers to staff?

      4. Other services: mental health, link to services, tutoring

   4. Use of the arts

      1. Volunteers in music, art, drama
