Minutes - 19th Ward Housing Committee - July 17, 2014

Present:  Deb Leary, Donna Sarnacki, Mark Sweetland, Kathy O’Neill, John and JoAnn DeMott, Annie Brown

Next meeting:  Thursday, August 21st, 11:00 AM, at the 19th WCA Office

Minutes of the May and June meetings were reviewed.  May minutes approved with one correction.  June minutes approved as submitted.

NSC report by Deb Leary.  No response as yet to our request for information on properties and landlords.  (Spreadsheet on toters was received.)  Deb to follow up.

Weldon St. report by Kathy O’Neill.  Kathy has followed through with them, made sure they have available information on organizing a block club, and that we are aware of their concerns.

It was reconfirmed that this committee’s current priorities continue to be code compliance issues and zoning violations.

Next steps and assignments:

Deb to follow through with NSC on information requested, and information on the following 5 properties:

  • 1046 Genesee St. - owner, Arthur Staley - gravel surface in front yard for illegal parking

  • 19 Genesee Park Blvd. - owner, Luke-Will Properties, LLC - illegal enclosures of upper and lower porches

  • 81 Ravenwood Ave. - owner, Anthony Greggs - porch enclosure, eyesore

  • 337 Sawyer St. - owner, Jerry Moore - porch enclosure

  • 255 Sawyer St. - owner, William G. and Donna L. Thomas - abandoned house not secured, children playing on property

Deb will report to Delegate’s Council in September on the committee’s work.

New business:  Complaints of satellite dishes in front yards.  It does require a variance but, evidently, they are easily granted.  It was suggested that Jackie refer complaints to the City.

Respectfully submitted, Kathy O’Neill
