Housing Committee Minutes – May 14, 2015

Present: Scott Beck, Donna Sarnacki, John DeMott and Deb Leary

April Minutes were approved.

Property Reports:

81 - 91 Ravenwood has been fixed!

255 Sawyer – owner has walked away from this one. Key Bank has a lien on the property. We need to get the City to push them to move ahead.

337 Sawyer – reportedly went to auction

257 Barton St. – reported as vacant and secure – has been for 5 years

1125 Genesee St. – complaint entered for parking in the yard and possible over tenancy. City has it as a 3 bedroom, but landlord lists it on their website as a 5 bedroom

Review of our Mission and Goals – how are we doing?

            Tabled until next meeting due to low attendance.

New Business:

Scott brought a concern about the need for grants to help people fix roofs. This is a real need and not enough money available.

The old White Star Market building on Congress Ave. has been sold – plans are unknown.

Action Items:

John D. will contact Gary Kirkmire and ask about pushing the banks that own 255 Sawyer and 257 Barton St. to move on getting the properties to auction.

Deb will make some calls to find out what’s happening with legislation re. zombie housing at the State level.
