Housing Committee Meeting Minutes –November 13, 2014
Present: Deb O’Leary, Kathy O’Neill, Donna Sarnacki, Joann and John DeMott, Mark Sweetland
Approval of Oct. minutes: Approved with corrections. 1046 Genesee missing.
Property Report: Donna talked to Dan Arena on these (*)
19 Genesee Pk. Blvd. Enclosed porch, very visible. Have before and after photos. Is it a front yard porch? Actionable anyway?
81 Ravenwood * Two apartments. Dan Arena to open a case. Check again in a month. No permit for enclosure.
255 Sawyer * Procedures started in ’09; six violations. Bank-owned, will fix siding in back. Some work started. Tell City we want this torn down? Not sure who to write to …
337 Sawyer * All boarded up. Nothing can do. Eventually City could take over.
54 Weldon Someone could do affidavit. Kathy to get procedure.
1046 Genesee* Front–yard parking. Should be no more than three cars, four are parking there. In Code Enforcement. Check back in 10 days.
U of R Student Ambassadors: Program getting started. Ambassadors invited to table at Convention. Jackie F. met one on phone and mentioned Housing Committee work to him. Program appears promising.
Proposed Certificate of Occupancy Changes: Deb attended meeting with Gary Kirkmire. Limited advance notice yet over 30 people attended. Most opposed change except a few landlords. 19th WCA is against change and it is time for LaShay to send a letter to City Hall. The whole thing, which would allow single-family home renters not to allow inspectors inside, is related to only four cases. The City is currently in favor.
Next Steps:
Joann and Donna to take photos of our six properties for Convention. (Deb showed us chart she is developing to track.)
Kathy to get house number of bad property on Milton.
Kathy will call Annie Brown about Sawyer. (She is also checking on procedure for affidavit.)
Next Meeting: Dec. 11, 11 AM, at NSC.
