Minutes of Housing Committee, 10/16/14
Present: Deb Leary Chair, Kathy O’Neill, Donna Sarnacki, Mark Sweetland , Berda Goff
Approval of September Minutes: Approved with one correction regarding 337 Sawyer St. This is not a foreclosure, but two open cases with 5 exterior violations. Minutes approved with corrections
Positive postcard: Deb passed around a draft of the postcard for review. This is a postcard to give to
Property owners to recognize home improvements and gardens which improve and beautify the Neighborhood.
Property report:
19 Genesee Pk. Blvd. : has a C of O with stipulation that there be no third floor occupancy
81 Ravenwood: no open case. As of 7/30 trash and debris case closed
255 Sawyer : open case has applied for C of O. 6 violations – all exterior.
337 Sawyer: 2 open cases – 5 exterior violations have been ticketed. See under approved minutes John DeMott to follow through re owner
54 Weldon St: Neighbors state 5 students: no open cases. Inspector met with owner on 9/19. Owner verified that there are only 4.
Committee structure and assignments; Committee members agreed to the following assignments for this month:
Donna: to contact NCS inspectors Josie Rivera and Dan Arena and bring back a report on the properties being followed by this committee.
Mark: to contact Jackie about the U of R student ambassadors (for students housed off campus)
Debbie: to do an housing article for update; also a letter to the U of R Housing Dept requesting a meeting. The emphasis will be on health and safety of students.
Other: We reviewed a letter to the Association from the City of Rochester signed by Mayor Warren which proposes changes in C of O policies for single family houses. The City Neighborhood Associations have requested input on these changes before the policy is finalized.
Berda Goff suggested a gala welcome party or picnic next year for U of R students living in the neighborhood.
