"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that" - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Ok - so here is the plan so far:
Call the Office, 328-6571 for more info, or to sign up for something
  •  PUT YOUR SIGNS OUT NOW- If you have a luminary sign in your garage or basement, please stand it up in your yard now. (your lawn, not the tree lawn - sign on tree lawn is a code violation)
  • TEALIGHTS -If you purchased some to donate to the kit making, please drop them off, or call the office and we will pick them up.  We need them before Saturday.
  • KIT MAKING - Call the Office to sign up for the kit making parties on Saturday.  We will be making up approx 150 luminary kits to sell for the event.  We could use a lot of help that day.

TIMES FOR KIT MAKING PARTIES - SATURDAY JANUARY 7 - 216 THURSTON ROAD-sign up ahead if you can

              9:00 - 11:00 AM
              1:00 - 3:00 PM
              6:30 - 8:30 PM

  • BUY YOUR KITS (or make your own)- Kits will be available at Hunt's Hardware, Menezes Pizza, and Boulder Coffee after January 7 (Hunt's has some now)  You can also check with your District Delegate or Block Club leader.  Many of them will have kits at their homes.   We will send out a complete list next week.
  • TELL YOUR NEIGHBORS -  Many of our neighbors are not Association members, are not on Location 19, or on an email list, so they are not necessarily aware of the event.  Tell them about it, encourage them to participate, take on the responsibility of lighting up your block.
  • SIGN UP TO HOST A HOT CHOCOLATE STAND, OR A BONFIRE - Sign up ahead, through the Office, or on Location 19, if you plan to host a hot chocolate stand, or have a bonfire, or any other creative event.  We can then publish it, and display it on a map.
  • PARTICIPATE -
at the Arnett Library on Saturday, Jan 14, Noon, special presentation and discussion on Martin Luther King Jr.'s Leadership in 2012.  Also, the History and Archives Committee, with the Friends of the Library,  will introduce a special media project they are quite excited about.  Refreshments

at your Home, and around your neighborhood on Monday Evening, Jan 16, 6:00-9:00PM  Simply put out your Luminary kit, light your candles, check with your neighor to be sure they are doing the same.  Take a stroll around the block, see the lights, visit your neighbors, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.

This event is one of the simplest things we do all year, and one of the most beautiful and unifying.  We encourage your participation.
