I took me a half hour this evening to bring two laundry baskets filled with milk jug luminaries from last year, light them and set them out. They had been loaded with 2.5 inch diameter glass jar candles hast year and they still had plenty of live left in them for tonight.
The snow cap on the hedge served a s nice pedestal to place several of the luminaries.
This is a great way to quickly set up luminaries.
Here are some quick pictures to show how to make luminaries from milk jugs:
You can light several of them on a cookie sheet and take them out to set them up. Using the better 5 for a dollar 1" tall candles works better than the tea lights shown. Don't light paper bag luminaries indoors. Too dangerous. You can reuse jug luminaries year to year. Huge time saving.
Too funny,.. I just did that ! Luckily I haven't taken the recycles out for awhile.
Empty milk jugs with a flap cut in the side is the best way to go. Some rock salt in the bottom for ballast and a flap cut in the side to insert and light a candle is the best way to go. They are reusable year to year.
Thank you,... I sure do miss Hunts !
That is going to be difficult at hour Grant. You can try Zola Brown at 585-545-0786 and the 19WCA office at 216Thuston Rd. where there should be people putting out luminaries there tonight at 5 to 6 pm. You can try the offfice at 238-6571. You can also check out Martin Luther King Luminary Events on Location19 and http://www.luminaryevening.com
Where can I get a luminary kit, or several ?
