The memento bags are available at the fraternity now. Items for the bags include pencils, erasers, and small word games from the association, and ribbons and treats from the fraternity. Other ideas to be pursued are Barnes and Noble gift certificates or books, gift certificates for west side market or Foodlink.

School 16 Status

The construction is on plan for an August 1 completion date. Unfortunately bathrooms will not be available for Square Fair. It was suggested that the association convention could be held there this year.

The recruitment plan has been sent to Carla Roberts, the principal at school 16. She shared it with her School Based Planning team. Since the enrollment period is just about over, the thrust of our activities are evolving into the need for pre- and post school care. We believe that without this the goal of neighborhood based community schools will not be achieved. We shared this document with the school board members assigned to our schools, and Beatriz Lebron responded with times she would be available to meet. We will meet with her on April 17 (Association office from 6:30 to 8:00). In preparation we need to survey the schools and the after care providers as to how to set up wrap around care. Folks to be contacted include YMCA, Boys and Girls Club. Principals, City Rec and RCSD (Carlos Garcia).
