Community Schools
RCSD held their second annual Community School Summit on August 19. The program was based on the ABCD model, or Asset Based Community Development. It changes the focus from what are we missing to what resources are available and how can we build on them. Many of the speakers referred to the assets in, and students from the neighborhood, or neighborhood-based community schools. The 19th ward has our share of designated community schools, namely 10, 16, 19, Wilson Foundation. Materials and presentations are available at https://sites.google.com/rcsd121.org/rcsd-2nd-annual-community-scho/home.
