Just received from Eleanor Coleman:

Just a reminder that OACES offers “rolling” enrollment for all technical training & TASC programs except Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) which has special requirements and is offered several times a year.  In addition to responding to students' interests in a timely manner, the concept of rolling enrollment allows students who have been in the programs longer to be able to “teach” newer students what they have learned (the best way to learn it, is to teach it!).  Students can study for their TASC (formerly GED) at the same time they are learning a new trade.  Students who already have a high school diploma or GED are also eligible for training services.  The  programs offered at this time (all Department of Labor recommended) are:

  •         Assembly
  •         Automotive/Small Machine Repair/Welding
  •         Building Maintenance Level 1 – Housekeeping
  •         Building Maintenance Level 2 – Property Management
  •         Carpentry
  •         Culinary
  •         Customer Service (all of the Microsoft applications & national certification)
  •         Electrical
  •         Printing & Promotion

We have a Transitions Coordinator onsite who has over 30 years of experience with DHS and is very skilled at assisting students with barriers and issues that might impede sustained employment.  We have an Alumni Services Group organized to support students in various ways once they have jobs.

Registration is very simple online via http://oaces.net/about/prospective-student-information-request/.    We have various funding streams available that may cover the cost of attending; by completing the simple online form, OACES staff will be able to determine which funding path would be a best fit for each student or make a referral to an appropriate alternative program.  Students must be at least 17 years of age and not current students of the Rochester City School District.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information.
