19th Ward to lose two schools to the east side!
It is important that people make their voices heard.
The performance of City elementary schools is important to everyone, whether or not you have children or grandchildren in the schools. Having 50% or more of our high school students fail to graduate guarantees deterioration of the quality of life in our city and hurts everyone.
It is important for students to have well maintained and well run neighborhood elementary schools that ensure students develop the skills they will need to succeed in high school. We believe this is best done through small community based schools that work closely with parents and the community from pre-K through 6th grade to ensure the success of all their children.
The District has for years repeated the same mistakes of busing children all over town to fill over-sized schools. They separate the schools from the very parents they most need to get involved, then complain of poor parental involvement.

Stop by the School Table and talk to teachers and parents. Friday 11/16; 6:30 pm, Presbyterian Home, Thurston Rd. Join the 19WCA, energize a school committee, meet the new Officers, get involved.
19WCA Community Meeting Monday 11/19, time and location TBD:
Form action plan toward keeping the schools in the neighborhood open.
