Attendance: Don Bartalo, Connie Flahive, Chojy Schroeder, Don Pryor, John Boutet, Diane Watkins, Dan Drmacich

{3:30 – 5:00pm, Invitation went to 81 guests.}
Discussion & Decisions:
1. We discussed the RCSD BoE election results & agreed that we should invite James Patterson (3rd place winner) to a Coalition meeting to further discuss his agenda & ours; especially since he expressed a desire to do so, if he were to win a BoE seat.. Dan will send James an invitation.
2. We agreed that the recent ROAR matrix for ranking BoE candidates for endorsement, is conceptually a possible tool that our Coalition could use in the future, with some modifications. We did not necessarily agree with the ROAR rankings.
3. We discussed our Coalition website, in light of Ed Donnelley's & David Hursh's recent comments & agreed on the following:
A. If the website is not free, then we need to raise funds to cover these types of costs to support our Coalition efforts.
B. One easy method to raise funds would be to request a $10 membership fee to each of our 78 members, which should keep us in business for several years, if everyone contributed.
* We haven't made a final decision on this proposal yet. If there are other sources for funding, please let me know.
4. Dan reported that our Coalition proposal to collaborate with Roc the Future, the Children's Agenda, the Children's Institute and the City & County governments has been accepted & will take place in July or August. Roc the Future has agreed to host it as a virtual forum. More details are forthcoming. One additional worthwhile note is that the City Government has allocated one million dollars to support the implementation of the RASE Recommendations. We're wondering if the County will also contribute. Howie: Can you investigate for us? It was also suggested that we contact City Council member, Mitch Gruber, to discuss his support & knowledge of the RASE support funding. Dan will contact him.
5. With regard to our Coalition Funding Recommendations to the RCSD and possible support from local higher education education departments for our recommendations, we have yet to hear reports from Coalition members Tom Hernandez (Brockport) and David Hursh (UofR). Connie mentioned the possibility of seeking support from each individual UofR education department, rather than the Dean of all 3 departments, since the Dean's position is in transition.
6. Dan reported that a meeting with the RCSD Supt. is being scheduled for this summer by Regent Norwood & will minimally include Dan & UofR Ed. Policy Prof., Kara Finnigan. More to come, on this.
7. For our Racial Justice & Equity activity, we encouraged all Coalition members to read the article "The Miseducation of White Students," which Dan recently sent out; (also attached below.) We'll discuss it at our next meeting.
8. Chojy suggested that the Coalition lobby minimally, for some form of Writing & Reading Resource Room in all schools, for those students who need to improve those skills. Bart volunteered to take on the task of analyzing what RCSD schools have services that others do not . He will contact RCSD administrator, Kelli Briggs, on this. (Kelli, btw, recently became a Coalition member & receives our minutes.) Bart will also discuss the need for Chojy's recommendation with Kelli.
9. We agreed to meet again on Friday, July 9th @ 3:30 pm.
