Discussion & Decisions:
1. We welcomed RCSD BoE Democratic Primary Election Winner, James Patterson, to the Coalition, and had a productive discussion with him regarding several critically important issues that focus on several of our RCSD Intervention Recommendations. James was very supportive of our recommendations & hopes to continue meeting with us.
2. Dan presented the plans for the Coalition-initiated RASE Education Forum, in collaboration with Roc the Future, the Children's Agenda, the Children's Institute, Urban League, and the City & County governments. A flyer with registration information will be sent to all Coalition members this week. Please register & forward it to other individuals & organizations that are interested in supporting the implementation of the RASE Education Recommendations. The proposed forum agenda is attached.
3. We briefly discussed the RCSD Parent Advisory Council proposal for more direct parent and student meaningful participation in RCSD decision-making. Since many of us were not familiar with the proposal Dan had sent out, we tabled the discussion for our possible support until our next meeting.
4. We agreed  to replenish our megar treasury, to support basic items like our website, by requesting a Coalition membership fee of $10.00, from each of our 75 members. Dan will consult with Coalition treasurer, David Hursh, on how money should be sent.
5. John Strazzabosco announced that he will be giving 2 presentations in July on his book, "90 Feet Under; What Poverty Does to People." More information will be forthcoming on dates, time & locations.
6. Given the current controversies regarding Critical Race Theory, Dan encouraged Coalition members to read the attached piece recommended by East High Supt., Shaun Nelms.
7. We agreed to meet again on Friday, July 23rd, @ 3:30.
