Welcome & Introductions
Quick Update of School Reopening Plans
Still working on a reopening plan. Plans not as secure with new Covid developments; in-person learning is anticipated for September, although on-line learning will be available. Current in-person system has been pretty secure.
Local Busing / Child Safety Zone update
Still considering the “equity” question and inability for city youth to go to local schools because of busing as opposed to suburban schools
Mayor and School Superintendent have connected; Sandra will update us.
RASE FORUM Commission Recommendation
RASE Forum took place this afternoon; Rochester area recommendations were presented. Mayor and County leadership meeting to address the racial equity issues that exist in the Rochester area. RASE established to address this concern.
Six categories; discussions held today. (E.g., language issues, needed support for youth living with trauma/using limited resources, etc.)
Meeting was recorded and will be made available to the public.
Rochester Coalition for Public Education News
Meets twice a month. Covers all aspects and issues of Education as well as national education news that either impacts or sheds light on local issues. Wide range of input is brought to this group.
John Boutet makes CPE meeting notes (as wells as SWCC Education minutes) available on LocationSW (https://location19.org/groups/group/show?groupUrl=sw-education-forum&)
Walk in items
YouthBuild location at 121 Lincoln Ave was flooded 3 days ago. The program will be moving out; not sure what part of the City they’ll end up in.
Community Site Coordinator at School # 10 has been promoted to Assistant Principal at OACES.
Hoping that the corner of S. Plymouth & Jefferson can be part of the Community Street Makeover; Lentory will be working with Stella Wang & Karen Emerson on this.
