SW Historic Pictures Submission Discussion

If you have access to interesting old pictures, we would love to have you share them with the group.  You can scan them if you have a scanner.  That is ideal, but if you don't you can photograph them with a digital camera.

I'll add instructions on photocopying as time permits.  Today's digital cameras can shoot at much higher resolution than most old pictures require.  Generally setting the camera to 5 to 7 megapixels is plenty.  Be sure to record any date or other information from the back of prints so you can include that in the information you send with the image.

I have quite a few photos of the Bull's Head area, courtesy of John Curran, and will share them when I am in the office next.

Bull's Head Tavern, photo provided by John Curran. While not technically in the 19th Ward, it was in the SW and gave the name to the area around Genesee & West Main Street.

Thank you Joan for getting the submissions started.  The SW History Matters group is focused on history of all the SW Rochester neighborhoods and the group is of course open to anyone interested in that history no matter where they reside.  I should point out that when you click on the image above the system displays it at full resolution.  You can then right-click on it and chose Save Image As... to save the image file to your system at full resolution.
