• The City Council approval for funding last month includes Bergmann and Associates for design work and research. The City also provided funds for the legal team that will resolve brownfield matters involving Exxon-Mobil. The Gandhi Institute will serve as fiduciary for PLEX's involvement with the next phase of Vacuum Oil Brownfield Opportunity Area civic engagement.
• The PLEX grant awarded by the Community Design Center of Rochester involves the greenspace area near Kennedy Towers and the former firehouse on South Plymouth. It is moving forward in the planning process presently to enhance recreational opportunities.
• River Romance 2014 takes place on Saturday, October 4th promptly at 2:30pm until 4:00pm at the river bend parkland accessible at #5 Flint Street. Costumed singers and re-enactors will trace the life and times of J. Horace McGuire,  a noted local Civil War soldier. The event concludes with a cannon-firing demonstration. Parking available. Sign Language interpreted.
• The Annual Gandhi Birthday Party open house with musical entertainment takes place Sunday, October 5th from 1:00 - 4:00pm at the Gandhi Institute at 929 South Plymouth.  Everyone is welcome. {see below}
