Florence Clemmons asked that the following be added to the minutes under "Community & Youth Engagement:

  • Jefferson Ave., Community Uplift was a success. Dedicated community partners were on hand to pass out information packages to 100 residence (including business owners) from Main St., to Plymouth Ave. Residence are very please with the revitalization efforts. Saturday a community clean up was organized to clean and rake the lots on Jefferson Avenue and Earl Street and Jefferson and Cottage Street.
  • SW NSC along with FIS Youth Engagement Network is working with Foodlink on a grant that will help store owners sell more healthy foods to those living in the neighborhood.
  • YEN (Youth Engagement Network) along with Nazareth College students continue to work with Explorers Club  youth on research which will be incorporated in the Photo Voice Project.
  • Genesee Valley Youth Hockey Club (GVYHC) went on historical walk along the Genesee. A big thanks goes out to John Curran for being a GREAT tour guide and exposing youth and families to the rich history in the Southwest.
  • Thanks goes out to Deb Leary for sharing with the GVYHC families emergency preparedness tips. The timing was perfect in time for Hurricane Sandy.
  • Jason Schwingle, President of the Washington Square Park Neighborhood Association, along with residents of WSNA, SW NSC and Bruce Glaser with the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War are working on getting the Civil War Cannon restored and placed back into the Washington Square Park.
